Heavy Civil Superintendent
Location: Lafayette, LA
Salary: $110,000 - $150,000 (Based on Experience)
Position Overview
The Heavy Civil Superintendent will lead onsite delivery of heavy civil and structural construction projects, driving safe, on time, on budget performance. This role is responsible for managing field operations for ground up, site work, concrete and tilt/tiltwall construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise heavy civil and structural concrete field operations, including site prep, earthwork, utilities, slabs, tilt-wall, and steel setting.
- Plan and sequence daily and long-range construction activities to hit project schedule milestones.
- Enforce safety programs and OSHA standards through daily toolbox talks, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Manage subcontractors, crews, materials, and equipment to optimize site productivity and workflow.
- Oversee concrete operations and QA/QC, including formwork, rebar, pours, and curing procedures.
- Coordinate heavy equipment, crane lifts, and logistics for tilt-up panel and steel erection.
- Conduct quality control checks and review plans, shop drawings, submittals, and as-builts with project engineering teams.
- Track project schedule and cost performance, proactively implementing risk mitigation and recovery plans.
- Manage site permits and coordinate inspections with local agencies and utility providers.
Qualifications
- 7+ years as a Heavy Civil/Construction Superintendent on heavy civil, concrete, tilt-wall, and commercial/industrial projects.
- Experience managing heavy civil, sitework, highway, industrial, and distribution center construction.
- Knowledge of structural concrete, slab work, tilt-wall systems, and steel erection.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, shop drawings, and geotechnical reports.
- Proven success leading crews, subcontractors, and equipment while meeting schedule, quality, and safety goals.
- Proficiency with Procore, MS Project, and other construction management tools.
