Step into a day shaping safety across heavy civil projectsIt’s 6:30 a.m. on a highway job. You meet foremen at the tailgate, open with a focused toolbox talk, and make sure every crew understands the day’s hazards and controls. By mid-morning you’re walking the work zones, verifying traffic control, inspecting excavations, and checking permits. An observation triggers a quick coaching moment, followed by an update to the site-specific safety plan (SSSP). After lunch, you finalize an incident review, compile training documentation, and brief project leadership on corrective actions. Before you leave, you log your audits, schedule the next training rotation, and plan tomorrow’s site visits. What you’ll ownLead field monitoring to ensure OSHA and company policies are followed at active jobsitesPlan and conduct recurring safety inspections, audits, and incident/near-miss investigationsDeliver engaging training sessions and toolbox talks for crews and supervisorsCreate, refine, and maintain site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) in partnership with project teamsKeep meticulous safety records, reports, and documentationPartner with operations to identify hazards proactively and implement controlsWhat you bring5+ years in construction safety; heavy civil experience strongly preferredDeep familiarity with OSHA standards and construction safety best practicesRelevant credentials such as OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or CHST are a plusClear, confident communication and the ability to influence in the fieldWillingness to travel to multiple project locations within the regionWhy this role, why nowJoin an experienced, safety-first team that backs you in the fieldCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefitsReal growth and professional development opportunitiesAbout Curtis Contracting, Inc.
