Job summary

Curtis Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist with a background in construction safety, preferably in heavy civil projects.

The role supports site safety programs, conducts inspections and audits, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes a culture of safety across operations. The position involves monitoring sites, delivering safety training, updating site-specific safety plans, and maintaining safety documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction safety (heavy civil preferred).
• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety best practices.
• Certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or CHST a plus.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel to various job sites throughout the region.

Responsibilities

• Monitor job sites to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks for crews and supervisors
• Assist in developing and updating site-specific safety plans (SSSPs)
• Maintain safety documentation and reports
• Support project teams in identifying and mitigating hazards
