Independence Excavating, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead all aspects of assigned projects, including budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts, and purchase orders, while interfacing professionally with owners.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this role requires strong organizational skills, travel to projects, and a proven track record managing large commercial construction sites across multiple crews.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's preferred
• At least 5 years' experience managing large commercial construction projects
• Strong organizational skills to handle diverse tasks
• Ability to develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers
• Proven ability to manage people, budgets, schedules, and quality at multiple sites
• Proficient in complete and accurate project take-offs and estimates
• Willing and able to travel extensively to projects

Responsibilities

• Preparing, reviewing, and returning submittals for items to be manufactured or provided
• Working with Superintendent/Operation Manager to determine equipment and crew needs
• Assembling job cost codes and regularly updating
• Coordinating subcontractors and material deliveries on major items
• Reviewing and approving subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices
• Negotiating and coordinating Extra Work Orders and CORs for changes in scope
• Monitoring production, resource utilization and overall job cost vs. estimated cost to maintain profit margin
• Preparing monthly job cost/profit projections
