Job summary

TenCate Grass Holding is seeking an Estimator with heavy civil estimating experience to support preconstruction activities across the Midwest Region. The role focuses on heavy civil and sitework opportunities, preparing accurate and competitive estimates for private and public projects, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and collaborating with Operations and Project Management to pursue and win work.

You will manage estimates from initial review through bid submission, work independently on

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction estimating experience preferred, with heavy civil/sitework focus.
• Experience with earthwork, grading, utilities, drainage, paving, concrete and related scopes.
• Experience preparing estimates and bid proposals for heavy civil/sitework projects.
• Understanding of heavy civil construction means and methods, plans and specs.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating scope, pricing and risk.
• Strong communication skills with Operations, Project Management and vendors.
• High level of professionalism, ownership and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for heavy civil and sitework projects.
• Review civil plans, specs, bid docs and site records to develop estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, equipment, material, and cost assumptions.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations for competitive pricing.
• Identify risks, exclusions, assumptions, schedule considerations, and site logistics.
• Use historical data and market conditions to support bids.
• Participate in bid strategy and estimate reviews with leadership.
• Support value-engineering and alternative approaches to improve competitiveness.
• Collaborate with Operations to align estimates with execution and handoff.
• Maintain organized estimating files and bid documentation.
