Job summary

TenCate is seeking an Estimator with heavy civil estimating experience to support preconstruction across the Midwest Region. The estimator will prepare accurate estimates for private and public projects, review scope, coordinate pricing, and work with Operations and Project Management for successful bid submission and handoff.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications, performing takeoffs, and maintaining organized estimating files.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction estimating experience preferred.
• Experience preparing estimates and bid proposals for heavy civil or sitework projects, including quantity takeoffs, labor, equipment, pricing, and assumptions.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate project scope, pricing, and risk.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for heavy civil, sitework, and related projects in the Midwest Region.
• Review civil plans, specifications, bid documents, and site conditions to develop complete estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop cost assumptions for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
• Solicit and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations to support competitive pricing.
• Support bid strategy and estimate reviews with operations and leadership.
