Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking an experienced Estimator for its preconstruction team in New York City. You will transform drawings, specifications, quantities, and subcontractor pricing into competitive bids to help decide which projects the company wins and builds.

This role requires a strong background in heavy civil estimation, hands-on HCSS/HeavyBid experience, and NYC public works familiarity. Collaboration with operations will shape pursuits and turnover processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
• Hands-on HCSS experience required; HeavyBid experience strongly preferred.
• NYC estimating/public works experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret complex civil plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scopes.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
• Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Prepare bid summaries and final estimates.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options.
• Work closely with Operations and Project Management during pursuit and turnover.

What You’ll Do

• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scopes

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
• Strong background in utilities, underground, excavation, transportation, water/sewer, or infrastructure
• Hands-on HCSS experience required — HeavyBid experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of civil means & methods, production rates, labor, equipment, and materials
• NYC estimating / public works experience strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret complex civil plans and specifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
