Job summary

Arcosa Traffic Structures in Sumterville, FL is seeking a Heavy Assembler to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble mechanical units, fabricate parts and sub-assemblies, and complete units using hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment.

You will read blueprints, align parts, and ensure assemblies meet specifications. The role requires 2+ years in general assembly, ability to lift 65+ pounds, and experience with power/air tools.

Qualifications

• Able to read a tape measure.
• Able to lift 65+ pounds, repeatedly.
• 2+ years of experience in general assembly work.
• Steel yard experience is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and layout specifications.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment.
• Identify and match up sub-assembly to final product.
• Experience with power and air tools to apply appropriate torque sequence and values.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to work in all-weather elements and loud noises.
• Basic communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Fit, align, calibrate and adjust parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements
• Read blueprints and verify the parts required prior to assembly
• Inform supervisors of any parts or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem
• Repair units or products that have failed to meet requirements
• Attach components to finished product as specified
• Lay out reference points, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts according to blueprint and layout specifications
• Identify parts that need repair and perform repairs as necessary
• Maybe involved in safety committees or initiatives
• Follows safety rules and practices
