Job summary

Engineered Floors is hiring a Heatset Winder Operator in Michigan to operate, thread, and supply Heat Setting Tunnel winders. You will patrol the machine, load tubes, splice breaks, and verify yarn against spec sheets.

The role requires standing for long periods, manual dexterity, and ability to lift 12–20 lb packages per shift. Overtime may be required; adherence to safety and quality guidelines is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor the running of the machine.
  • Inspect, Label, and Stack wound packages as instructed.
  • Follow all Company, Safety & Quality Guidelines.
  • Check the Specification sheet at the beginning of each shift and verify that all specs are being followed exactly as described on the spec sheet.
  • Verify that each tube of yarn produced from the winder complies with the spec sheet.
  • Load empty tubes into Winder magazine.
  • Separate & Straighten the yarn bundle into the thread path from the Accumulator to the Winder.
  • Use Air Splice to join any broken ends.
  • If the Splicer doesn’t reach, tie a weaver’s knot with ¼ - ½” tail.
  • Periodically check the thread path and correct the winder for run-ability.
  • Tunnel efficiency of 90% or better is expected.
  • Stack finished packages as configured on the spec sheet.
  • Keep the work area free of yarn waste; clean work area each shift.
