Job summary

A growing HVAC firm in Des Moines is seeking an HVAC Apprentice to support experienced technicians with maintenance and repairs. This full-time position offers starting pay between $16.50 to $33.00 per hour plus bonuses. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and a mechanical aptitude. The role includes hands-on training and opportunities for career advancement towards certification and a high earning potential as a Lead Technician.

What You’ll Do

As an HVAC Apprentice, you’ll learn hands‑on from experienced technicians in the field while supporting clients with maintenance, repairs, and comfort solutions.

You’ll Learn How To

• Perform maintenance on heating & cooling systems to prevent breakdowns
• Diagnose and repair system issues alongside senior technicians
• Communicate clearly with homeowners and present repair or replacement options

What You Bring

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely
• Positive attitude and team spirit

Preferred (but Not Required)

• 1+ year of HVAC or mechanical experience
• Basic sheet metal or IAQ knowledge
• NATE certification or related training
• Sales or client communication experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly (up to 150 lbs occasionally)
• Comfortable working indoors/outdoors, in attics, basements, or crawl spaces
• Able to stand, kneel, climb, and bend throughout the day
• Exposure to seasonal temperatures and moderate noise levels
