Role Description

The Heating Air Conditioning Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Grand Rapids, MI. This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing residential and commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, and indoor air quality equipment. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting system issues, completing service calls, and documenting work performed. The technician will interact directly with customers, explain findings in clear terms, recommend appropriate solutions, and ensure safe, efficient system operation. The role also involves adhering to industry regulations, company safety standards, and supporting occasional emergency service work as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose HVAC system issues efficiently and accurately.
• Experience in maintenance & repair and preventive maintenance for residential and commercial HVAC equipment.
• Knowledge of EPA regulations and possession of appropriate EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
• Commitment to customer satisfaction, with professional communication and a service-oriented mindset.
• Previous experience as an HVAC service technician or in a similar mechanical/technical role.
• Understanding of HVAC system components, electrical and mechanical fundamentals, and safety practices.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to work on-site throughout Grand Rapids and West Michigan.
• Ability to lift and move equipment, work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions, and use hand and power tools safely.
• Relevant trade school training, apprenticeship, or HVAC certification; state licensing is a plus.
• Basic bilingual skills in English and Spanish are beneficial but not required.
