The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and optimizing commercial HVAC, refrigeration and control systems. Candidates should be motivated, well-organized, technically adept, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair commercial HVAC equipment, refrigeration systems, ventilation systems, controls and related mechanical systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, warranty repairs, inspections and service visits on commercial systems.
  • Keep customers properly informed: explain work performed, identify outstanding issues, provide recommendations for upgrades, improvements, or replacements.
  • Deliver excellent customer service on-site: maintain professionalism, answer questions, leave the work area clean, and foster long-term relationships.
  • Accurately document all service work: job tickets, time logs, parts used, system status, and any events that impact schedule, scope or cost.
  • Maintain company service vehicle, tools and equipment in proper working order—clean, stocked and ready for field assignments.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency service as required.
  • Maintain awareness of safety standards, company policies, and relevant regulatory compliance (e.g., refrigerant handling, electrical codes, manufacturer guidelines).
  • Identify opportunities for system optimization (energy savings, reliability improvements, lifecycle cost reduction) and assist in quoting or recommending those improvements.
  • Work independently or as part of a team, coordinating with other technicians, project managers, controls personnel and vendors as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum (2) years’ experience in HVAC service work, preferably in commercial or industrial systems.
  • Strong diagnostic/troubleshooting skills: ability to read wiring diagrams, controls sequences, mechanical schematics and to isolate issues.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (required for commercial refrigeration/AC service).
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills; customer-service oriented and professional in demeanor.
  • Comfortable working in physically demanding environments: climbing ladders, lifting, working outdoors or in mechanical rooms, sometimes under non-ideal conditions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage time and prioritize calls efficiently.
  • Familiarity with refrigeration systems, building automation controls, variable-speed drives, chilled/hot water systems is strongly preferred.
