Job summary

Transforming Age's Heathers Manor in Crystal, MN, seeks a Senior Chef (Sous Chef) for a full‑time schedule (Wednesday through Sunday) to support the Culinary Director and deliver exceptional dining for residents and guests.

The role emphasizes high‑quality food preparation, kitchen operations, staff collaboration, and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen environment with strong safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chef/Kitchen Manager in a senior living community is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with staff and external constituents.
• Successful completion of a recognized food safety course.
• First Aid training and CPR training may be required in certain state/local jurisdictions.
• Completion of a background check; drug screen, physical, TB test, and fingerprinting may be required per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food that meets dietary needs, including therapeutic/modified diets.
• Conduct Quality Assurance Audits to ensure proper prep and cleanliness.
• Ensure food safety and sanitary handling; comply with regulations.
• Maintain relationships with food and equipment vendors.
• Hire, orient, train, and evaluate kitchen staff; supervise utility and FOH staff as needed.
• Create a motivating environment encouraging teamwork and problem‑solving.
• Act as Executive Chef in their absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

Heathers Manor, a Transforming Age community located in Crystal, MN, seeks a Sous Chef to support the Culinary Director in creating an exceptional dining experience for residents and guests. The role involves high‑quality food preparation, kitchen operations, staff collaboration, and maintenance of a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare delicious food that meets a variety of dietary needs, including therapeutic/modified diets.
• Conduct regular Quality Assurance Audits to ensure food is well prepared and the kitchen is neat and organized.
• Ensure kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling; maintain compliance with King County and DSHS regulations.
• Maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors.
• Hire, orient, train, and evaluate kitchen staff; assist with supervising utility and front‑of‑house staff as needed.
• Create a motivating environment that encourages team members to be involved, creative, and engaged in problem‑solving.
• Act as Executive Chef in their absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
