Job summary

WITTENSTEIN North America in Bartlett, IL, is seeking a heat-treat technician to safely machine parts per blueprints and procedures within set timeframes. You will prepare components for heat treatment, operate systems in automatic mode, troubleshoot faults, adjust parameters, and document results in the ERP system.

The role requires reading blueprints, computer literacy, and the ability to work shifts. Occasional travel to Germany for training may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years’ direct or related experience preferred.
• Read blueprints.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Willingness to work other shifts.
• Occasional travel to headquarters in Germany.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts safely according to blueprints within given timeframes.
• Prepare components for heat treatment and operate heat treatment systems in automatic mode.
• Troubleshoot simple faults and adjust process parameters.
• Perform and document hardness tests and material quality using spectral analysis.
• Report time and quantities via the ERP system and communicate with team and quality personnel.
• Maintain shift process controls and participate in team meetings.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $27-$34 per hour

Primary Purpose of this position is to machine parts safely according to blueprints, established procedures and guidelines within given timeframes.

• Prepare components for heat treatment
• Operation and monitoring of heat treatment systems in automatic mode
• Troubleshoot simple faults and warning messages
• Adjust process parameters in heat treatment programs
• Perform and assist with maintenance work on the heat treatment systems laboratory equipment in accordance with the maintenance schedule
• Perform and document hardness tests using various test methods
• Perform and determine the material quality using spectral analysis
• Perform grinding burn test
• Production, measurement, and evaluation of metallographic micrograph samples
• Report through the ERP system time and quantities
• Communicate within the team and Quality personnel effectively
• Maintain shift process controls and performance reports
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Participation in team meetings

Qualifications

• Minimum three years’ direct or related experience is preferred
• Read blueprints
• Effectively work with forms, department procedures and objectives
• Use of measuring equipment and fixtures
• Diagnose deviations and correct them
• Ability to report through the ERP system time
• High School Diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) is required
• Vocational training or equivalent is preferred
• Reliable process knowledge of case hardening
• Confident use of PC
• Physical resilience
• Speak, Read and Write the English Language
• Willingness to work other shifts
• Ability to work limited overtime if necessary
• Occasional travel for training at headquarters in Germany
