Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Duncan, SC is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to keep our assembly and machining equipment running at uptime targets. You will service CNCs, hydraulic presses, torque stations, paint booths, and other critical machinery on site.

The role requires hands-on repair, alignment, and preventive maintenance, with on-call duties during down times and a strong focus on safe, reliable production for our manufacturing lines.

Qualifications

• Must be able to troubleshoot CNC machines for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Proven track record of repairing machinery for continued production.
• Ability to work without supervision.
• Self-driven to ensure uptime of machinery.

Responsibilities

• Repair and rebuild machines including CNCs and hydraulic systems.
• Pull and replace machine linear guides and ball screws.
• Assist with PM scheduling and read diagrams and drawings.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies for timely completion of work.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

Job Description

The WPT Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring uptime in the Assembly and Machining departments in Duncan SC. This includes working on all types of equipment to include but not limited to CNC machines, hydraulic presses, torque stations, paint booth and ovens, in addition, any other machines that require attention to perform properly. This position could require the tech to be on call in situations of down time.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Knowledge of OEM machine controllers (FANUC)
• Perform mechanical repairs (and rebuild) on all machines
• Pull and replace machine linear guides and ball screws
• Support with scheduling PM, reading report, diagrams and drawings
• Working knowledge of tool Probing function for CNC Mill Machines
• Able to work with complex NC machine up to & including 5 Axis
• Perform machine leveling and alignment on all machines,
• Identify and replace parts as necessary
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machine tool equipment and controls.
• Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal and vendor resources to research machine issues
• General facilities maintenance
• Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work
• Work based on a sense of urgency with machine down conditions
• In conjunction with production team, will support continuous improvement of development of PM instructions and schedules to prevent failures
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and software, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Payrate $29/hr

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be able to troubleshoot CNC machines for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Must have a proven track record of repairing machinery for continued production for Assembly and Machining.
• Requires the ability to work without supervision
• Must be self-driven to work with a sense of urgency to ensure uptime of machinery.

• Must have the ability to plan and execute highly complex work to precision tolerances, allowances, and finishes
• Must be able to read and interpret complex Engineering blueprints, tool prints and sketches
• Requires the ability to work without supervision

• The position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.

Work Environment

• The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment and occasionally exposed to cold or hot weather conditions. Frequently exposed to load noises and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $29.00. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
