Position Summary

Based in Santa Fe Springs, CA, the Heat Treater will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Foreman to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.

• Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level B: Mid-Level

• Operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level A: Senior-Level

• Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• Ensures the care and treatment of customer inventory to prevent loss or damage.
• Reports for work on time, follows directions, interacts effectively with co‑workers, understands and follows rules and procedures, and accepts constructive criticism.

Qualifications

• Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident card holders. Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
• May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
• Must obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Physical & Mental Demands

• Work in a standing position for extended periods in an industrial environment.
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
• Requires cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
• Ability to hear in person and via phone.

Pay & Benefits Information

The hourly pay range is $18.00–$23.00 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. The position is non‑exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.

Benefits include employee and family medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage; company‑paid life and disability; HSA/FSA options; 401(k) with company match; paid time off and paid holidays; and an Employee Assistance Program. Benefits eligibility begins on day 61 of employment.

A $1,500 sign‑on retention bonus is available. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and basic physical; be able to work full time (40+ hours per week). Hours are 2nd shift, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
