Job summary

Bodycote in Fremont, CA is seeking a Heat Treater C to support heat treatment operations under the Heat Treater Leadperson. The role requires readiness to work night shifts and follow shop procedures to meet customer specifications.

Candidates should have 0–5 years in heat treating for Level C to Level A, with forklift certification and ITAR compliance as needed. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork in a heavy industrial setting.

Qualifications

• This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.
• May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• The hours for this position are 9:00pm - 5:30am, Mon-Fri. Training is required on 1st shift; 5:00am - 1:30pm for approximately 2 weeks.

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.

Position Summary

Based in Fremont, CA the Heat Treater C will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Heat Treater Leadperson to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

Skills

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Heat Treating Technician. Depending on your skills and experience, this role may be filled at one of the following levels:

Level C: Entry Level: 0 to 24 months of heat treating experience.

• Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level B: Mid-Level: 2 to 3 years of experience in heat treating.

• Operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level A: Senior-Level: 3 to 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of heat treating.

• Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Pay & Benefits Information

The hourly pay range for this position is $24.00 – $26.00 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.
