Job summary

Timken Company in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Heat Treat Operator to perform a variety of heat treatment operations on production parts. You will cross-train on multiple furnaces, set up and operate gas-fired furnaces and quenching devices, and use wheelabrator and hardness testing devices to ensure parts meet specifications.

The role requires reading and interpreting ISO procedures, maintaining accurate equipment logs, and performing size and hardness checks.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Authorized to work in the US.
• Willing to work overtime and any shift.
• Mechanical abilities required.
• Able to read, write and perform basic mathematics.
• Able to follow Heat Treat and ISO procedures.
• Physically demanding work.

Responsibilities

• Cross-train on multiple furnaces.
• Set up and operate gas-fired furnaces and quenching devices to meet specs.
• Use wheelabrator and hardness testing devices to verify parts.
• Perform size and hardness checks.
• Maintain accurate logs for equipment used.
• Set up floor dies and participate in quenching operations.
• Operate wheelabrator as directed.
• Assist in carburizing by loading/unloading baskets.
• Inspect carburizing fixtures and baskets; report issues.
• Carry out charging and quenching operations.
• Perform straightening as directed.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and care for tools.
