Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Health Technician (Hearing Instrument Specialist) within the El Paso VA Health Care System to support patient care in audiology.

The role includes assisting with diagnostic and treatment procedures, charting, and patient education under licensed audiologist supervision. The position is housed in the Audiology & Speech Language Pathology department and the posting notes open until filled.

Qualifications

• Citizenship in the U.S.
• Full current and unrestricted HIS license/registration in a U.S. state or territory
• Active NBC-HIS board certification
• Temporary appointment options for non-board certified individuals under supervision (GS-5/GS-6)
• English language proficiency in speaking and writing

Responsibilities

• Perform non-diagnostic otoscopy and cerumen management under audiologist supervision
• Assist in hearing aid repair appointments and chartkeeping
• Prepare hearing aids and assistive devices for delivery
• Process incoming devices and maintain inventory for hearing care
• Assist with hearing aid connectivity and app pairing for patient devices
• Provide patient education on hearing loss and communication strategies
• Support audiology procedures and telehealth visits as needed
