Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Health Technician to support the Audiology clinic. Primary duties include assisting with diagnostic and treatment procedures, patient charting and education, and maintaining infection control in a clinical setting.

The role emphasizes licensure as HIS, board certification, and ongoing credentialing, with a focus on patient care, audiology equipment readiness, and coordination with licensed audiologists.

Qualifications

• Must hold full, current license/registration as HIS in a U.S. state/territory/DC.
• Board certification by NBC-HIS or eligible under supervision rules.
• Non-board certified individuals may be hired at entry level with supervision.
• Temporary appointments for non-board certified HIS limited to two years.
• Active pursuit of board certification is required.
• Foreign education evaluated for equivalency if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair hearing aids and accessories.
• Conduct daily checks and calibrations of audiology equipment.
• Document procedures and enter notes in patient records.
• Provide patient education on hearing aid use and care.
• Triage patient requests and manage equipment inventory.
• Maintain infection control and clinical workflow in Audiology.
