Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs—Atlanta VA Health Care System seeks a Health Technician (Hearing Instrument Specialist) to support audiology services. You will assist with patient care, setup for procedures, and hearing aid maintenance under an audiologist’s supervision.

Responsibilities include device troubleshooting, patient education, and accurate documentation in the EMR. Strong communication in English and licensure are required; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Active HIS license/registration in a state, territory, or DC.
• Board certification by NBC-HIS required.
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care in audiology including diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Assist in set up and delivery of in-person and telehealth visits.
• Perform non-diagnostic otoscopy and refer abnormalities as needed.
• Assist with hearing aid repair and troubleshooting per plan of care.
• Document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record.
• Provide patient education on hearing aids, devices, and care.
