Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Bronx, NY seeks a Health Technician (Hearing Instrument Specialist) to support the Audiology Department. Responsibilities include troubleshooting hearing aids, assisting audiologists, preparing earmolds, and maintaining patient records.

Qualifications include apprenticeship or two years of coursework in hearing field, plus board certification requirements. Monday–Friday schedule, on-site at James J. Peters VA Medical Center.

Qualifications

Experience and/or education in hearing instruments and audiology.
Ability to follow clinic protocols and infection control guidelines.
Familiarity with basic computer software (email, spreadsheets, word processing).

Responsibilities

Perform hearing aid troubleshooting and repair tasks.
Conduct visual and auditory checks of hearing aids and assistive devices.
Prepare earmolds and order replacements as needed.
Provide patient education on hearing aid use, insertion, removal and hygiene.
Assist in setup and delivery of evaluations and telehealth visits.
Maintain accurate documentation in medical records and co-sign with audiologist.
