Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' VA Caribbean Healthcare System in Mayaguez is seeking a Health Technician (HIS) in Audiology.

The position supports diagnostic and treatment procedures, patient charting and education, and combines direct patient care with administrative duties in the Audiology Service. The role requires licensure as an HIS and NBC-HIS board certification, with English and Spanish language proficiency, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinic

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required or eligible per VA policy
• English proficiency in spoken and written English
• Board certification or eligibility for NBC-HIS
• Full current and unrestricted HIS license/registration
• Temporary appointments may be offered to graduates under VA policy
• Proficiency in Spanish is required

Responsibilities

• Supporting diagnostic and treatment procedures
• Patient charting and patient education
• Direct patient care and administrative duties in audiology
• Hearing aid troubleshooting and repair
• Performing earmold impressions with proper otoscopy
• Ordering earmolds and fitting/modifying earmolds
• Documenting all interactions in the medical record and ROES
• Maintaining stock, supplies, and equipment tracking
• Triaging patient calls and audiology requests
• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm
