Job summary

South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. in Plymouth, MA seeks a friendly Reception / File & Mail Clerk to join the HEAP team.

This full-time, seasonal role supports the Home Energy Assistance Program, greeting clients, handling calls, managing mail, and maintaining records with confidentiality. The position runs 37.5 hours weekly, Mon–Fri 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with a start in October 2026 and end around April 2027, paying $21.18/hour non-exempt.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, HiSET, or GED equivalent.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable learning and using technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional and compassionate telephone communication skills.
  • Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with a diverse clientele.
  • Ability to manage a busy workload while maintaining accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist clients in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls.
  • Handle confidential information.
  • Sort, date-stamp, file, and distribute incoming mail.
  • Maintain organized paper and electronic files.
  • Scan and upload documents.
  • Perform copying, faxing, and other general office duties.
  • Assist with day-to-day administrative needs of the HEAP program.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

We are looking for a friendly, organized, and dependable Reception / File & Mail Clerk to join our Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) team at our Plymouth office. HEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible low- and moderate-income households with their winter home heating and utility costs. Your work will directly support a program that makes a meaningful difference for individuals and families in our community.

What You’ll Do

Position Details
  • Position: HEAP Reception / File & Mail Clerk
  • Status: Full-Time, Seasonal
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Schedule: Monday?Friday, 8:30 a.m.?4:00 p.m.
  • Pay: $21.18/hour, non-exempt, hourly
  • Season: Approximately October 15, 2026, through April 30, 2027
  • Location: SSCAC Main Office, 71 Obery
  • Street, Plymouth, MA Employment Requirements Must be at least 18 years
