Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration (VA Long Beach Healthcare System) invites applications for a Training Specialist within the Office of Education, Clinical Staff Development. This full-time role supports planning, development, and delivery of instructional programs for clinical and administrative staff.

You will help create curricula, maintain standardized materials, and advise on course delivery methods across face-to-face, online, and blended formats.

Qualifications

• Participates in planning, implementing, and administering training programs addressing immediate and long-range educational needs.
• Modifies standardized or pre-structured training products to support facility needs.
• Facilitates instruction for courses (non-simulation); simulation courses taught by a Nurse due to complexity.
• Develops and evaluates training modules for administrative and clinical employees; integrates interactive learning.
• Supports curricula development for adult education programs.
• Maintains standardized training materials including web-based and eLearning formats.
• Assists in planning analytical studies to identify learning needs within the LBVAHS.
• Serves as a consultant to facility staff on course delivery and training development.

Responsibilities

• Participates in all phases of planning, implementing, and administering training programs that address both immediate and long-range educational needs of the organization, requiring practical knowledge of instructional theory, training methods, and subject-matter expertise.
• Assists in modifying established standardized or pre-structured training products, including courses, training aids, methodologies, and evaluation plans, in support of facility needs.
• Facilitates instruction for various courses that do not involve simulation-based training; simulation courses are taught by a Nurse due to the advanced technical systems and subject-matter requirements.
• Assists in developing and evaluating training modules for new and existing administrative and clinical employees, integrating interactive learning and simulation-based components into service-line and facility training plans.
• Supports the development of curricula for adult education programs.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standardized or pre-structured training materials and curricula, including web-based, eLearning, and virtual formats.
• Utilizes a wide range of teaching methods and tools appropriate to employee learning requirements.
• Assists in planning and supporting analytical studies to identify and assess the learning and training needs of employees within the LBVAHS.
