Job summary

Healthcare Dive is seeking an experienced editor to lead daily stories and features on health insurers, hospitals and health IT. You will edit, write and develop projects with the senior managing editor, while mentoring freelancers and building key industry sources.

This role is based in Newton, MA with in-person collaboration several days per week. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in journalism, deadline discipline, and strong data storytelling ability to inform executives about industry trends

Qualifications

• A track record of editing, writing and reporting.
• Proven time management skills on deadline.
• Ability to deftly edit various story formats including breaking news, briefs and long-form trend stories.
• Team player who collaborates on subject lines, headlines and strategy.
• Aptitude for analyzing trends, data and issues for business leaders.
• 3+ years of experience in journalism or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Edit, write and report daily stories and features on healthcare topics.
• Identify story ideas, plan and execute big projects with the team.
• Cultivate sources and pitch stories on assigned beat.
• Work with freelancers, sending assignments and providing feedback.
• Collaborate with senior managing editor to elevate coverage across healthcare sector.
