Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Health Care Technician who will support licensed nursing staff under the direction of an RN. The role includes assisting with personal care, data collection, and documentation, while ensuring smooth unit operations and patient safety.

Flexibility to float between units and assist with bedside procedures is required. The ideal candidate has a HS diploma or GED, BLS training, CNA experience or coursework, and prior nursing clinical exposure.

Qualifications

• BLS certification to be completed within 30 days.
• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential.
• At least one nursing clinical experience.
• Past CNA work within 24 months is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain unit supplies and equipment, stock nurse servers, and keep charts updated.
• Collect data on patients and document accurately as directed by RN.
• Demonstrate competency in skills like vital signs, glucose, intake/output.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Prepare patients for transport and coordinate with nursing staff.
• Float within the hospital as needed to support units.
• May act as a sitter for patients requiring supervision.
• Assist in setting up bedside procedures as requested.
