Job summary

Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA is seeking a Switchboard Operator to handle patient communications and payments. This full-time role supports the Patient Accounts team under supervision, directing calls, collecting payments, and guiding patients to the appropriate resources to ensure satisfaction.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of revenue cycle workflows and experience with EHR systems, strong customer service, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital

Responsibilities

• Handles and manages communications with patients for the organization by directing their calls accordingly.
• Receives patient payments; balances payments at the end of every shift.
• Provides exceptional customer service that aims to improve patient and guarantor relations.
• Negotiates full payment from patients and helps them set up a payment arrangement per our policy.
• Reviews and provides patients with total balances owed.
• Manages and maintains appropriate phone numbers for agencies, extensions and any other numbers necessary.
• Updates patient demographics when necessary; directs patients to the appropriate resources.
• Other job duties as assigned.
