Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems seeks a Support Services Executive Consultant reporting to the COO. This role oversees Safety & Security, Environmental Services, Clinical Engineering, Parking/Courier, Food/Nutrition, and Service Response, aligning operations with the mission and fostering DE&I across the workplace.

The position drives organizational strategy, budget adherence, compliance, and standardization while building inclusive alliances with leadership and department

Qualifications

• Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or closely related field.
• Twelve (12) or more years of related leadership experience including seven (7) or more years in leadership role with significant business impact.
• Ability to be available as needed to staff on all shifts, locations, etc.
• Ability to build solid relationships with physicians, clinicians, staff and community.
• Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop the overall business strategy for the Support Services division and communicate and oversee implementation of that strategy, while promoting a culture of value and belonging.
• Maintain a diverse organizational structure for the Support Services department ensuring that work is optimally organized, resources are optimally utilized, and communication can take place in an efficient and effective manner.
• Provide inclusive leadership in the area of operational improvement and expense management for the medical center and individual facilities in concert with overall strategic plan to improve Support Services.
• Provide direct leadership in the oversight and responsibility for the operational effectiveness for Support Services management plan that will reduce variation, drive standardization, and ensure consistent processes.
• Collaborate with division and facility teams to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze data, make strategic recommendations, and execute a course of action for overall improvement in both quality and expense for support services division.
• Demonstrate an understanding of project management methodologies, which include but are not limited to: common processes, setting milestones, assigning accountability, practices and tools associated with project management.
