Cape Cod Healthcare, Inc. in Hyannis, Massachusetts is seeking a student-focused purchasing/administrative trainee.

You will assist departmental directors and learn how hospital supply chain operations function, from requisitions to payables. This hourly role emphasizes shadowing, data collection, and reporting, with regular interactions with nurses, physicians, and supply technicians to understand impact on patient care.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Actively enrolled in Degree program.
• Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with Cape Cod Healthcare Purchasing and Supply Chain departments and its operating systems.
• Understand operating parameters of systems – know why they are necessary.
• Understand the functionality of the Peoplesoft Finance and Supply Chain system and understand the capabilities of system.
• Analyze logged data for expired item quantities and dollar value.
• Shadow the Manager of VA and participate in meetings, researching products and creating evaluation criteria for pilots.
• Shadow Senior Manager of Contracts to review terms and conditions and learn to redline contracts.
• Learn about Life Safety, NFPA and Joint Commission preparedness and inspections.
• Review and shadow Purchasing Manager for procure-to-pay processes and supplier management.
• Partner with clinical staff and inventory technicians to understand supply chain impact on patient care.
• Work independently on assigned projects including data collection and analysis.
