Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a full-time Public Safety Officer to protect hospital assets and ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff. You will patrol facilities, respond to incidents, and coordinate with supervisors while delivering high-quality customer service in a busy healthcare setting.

Key duties include screening visitors, escorting individuals, investigating incidents, and participating in training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• 1 year of experience as a public safety officer or related position.
• IAHSS Basic and Advanced Healthcare Security Officer certifications within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic public safety and security duties across hospital facilities.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for service and monitor alarms.
• Provide escorts to patients, visitors, staff, and others per procedures.
• Identify hazards and coordinate with departments to mitigate risks.
• Document incidents with written reports and maintain incident case files.
• Assist with emergencies, crowd control, evacuations, and disaster response.
• Maintain professional conduct and customer service with patients and staff.
• Complete training requirements and specialty assignments as needed.
