Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare is seeking a part-time Security Officer to safeguard patients, visitors, staff, and property at the Midvale, UT facility. You will monitor surveillance, enforce policies, and respond to emergencies in a healthcare environment.

You will participate in drills, conduct searches, and support safety inspections while upholding HIPAA and privacy standards. The role emphasizes de-escalation, coordination with security and HR, and safe patient transport when needed.

Qualifications

• Current Driver's License required if applicable for the role.
• Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in Montana, Security Guard Licensure required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security technology systems (CCTV, access control, alarms).
• De-escalate and resolve conflicts with verbal/non-verbal strategies.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following protocols.
• Participate in drills (infant abduction, active shooter) for staff preparedness.
• Conduct respectful searches of patients and narcotics screening in accordance with law.
• Perform safety inspections of walking surfaces and fire extinguishers.
• Enforce parking regulations to ensure safety and accessibility.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations; protect patient information.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance when reporting crimes or incidents.
