Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a part-time Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff at the Supply Chain Center in Midvale, Utah. You will monitor surveillance, control access, and respond to emergencies while enforcing policies and improving overall security.

The role requires active monitoring of security systems, strong de-escalation skills, and the ability to handle incidents including searches and parking enforcement.

Qualifications

• Current Driver’s License (if applicable for the role).
• Current Basic Life Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• At least 21 years of age.
• If located in the State of Montana Security Guard Licensure is required within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor security technology systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems.
• De-escalation: use verbal and non‑verbal strategies to calm individuals and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Handle situations with violent patients, including using physical restraints when necessary to protect staff and patients.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, including HIPAA reporting and minimal disclosure to law enforcement.
• Respond to bomb threats and suspicious packages following protocols for safety.
• Participate in drills such as infant abduction and active shooter scenarios.
• Conduct searches of patients and areas following legal requirements.
• Perform safety inspections of facilities and safety equipment.
• Enforce parking regulations to ensure safety and accessibility.
• Collaborate with HR and law enforcement on investigations and information disclosures.
