Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Medicine Public Safety team at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Public Safety Officer I for PRN shifts. You will patrol, respond to emergencies, assist visitors and staff, and uphold safety and customer service standards.

You will work with clinical and security teams, complete incident reports, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions. CPR and de‑escalation training are required, with license requirements as applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain driving privileges.
• Must be 21+ with related security experience if applicable.
• CPR, Stop the Bleed, Narcan, and de-escalation training required.
• DC Security Officer License or ability to obtain within 45 days.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital areas including patient care units, entrances, and grounds.
• Monitor cameras, alarms, and access control points; respond to security concerns.
• Provide escort, directions, and customer service support.
• Screen visitors and enforce safety policies; inspect exits and life-safety systems.
• Assist with emergency response, drills, events, and crowd control.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, security and responders.
