Job summary

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center is seeking a Public Safety Officer to patrol the hospital campus by foot, bike, or mobile unit to protect people and property during the evening shift. The role requires at least 1 year of security experience and a HS diploma, with basic security training and dispatch readiness.

Hours are night shift 12:00AM–8:00AM; compensation ranges hourly and scales with experience.

Qualifications

• 1 year of security experience in protective services.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School diploma or equivalent; basic security officer training.
• Current certification in use of Corporate Security Services self defense equipment.

Responsibilities

• Patrol Johns Hopkins campus on foot, vehicle, or bicycle to deter theft, vandalism and safety hazards.
• Protect against unauthorized activities and respond to incidents.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for patrolling JHMI campus via foot, mobile unit or bicycle to protect against illegal activities, theft, fire, vandalism, hazardous conditions, infringements, etc.

Education

• Work requires a comprehensive knowledge of security functions as would normally be acquired by significant experience in a security operation preferably with completion of a High School degree or equivalent. Requires acceptable completion of basic security officer training.
• Assignment to the Communications Center requires successful completion of 911 and Communications dispatch training.

Requirements

• Requires current certification in use of Corporate Security Services self defense equipment.

Work Experience

• The candidate must have one (1) year of security experience in the Protective Services Officer
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Salary Range:

Minimum $17.37/hour - Maximum $28.68/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
