Job summary

Wheeling Hospital, Inc. seeks a vigilant Security Officer to provide information, escort services, and safety oversight across hospital locations.

You will assist patients, visitors, and staff, monitor traffic and access control, and participate in emergency responses in a healthcare environment. The role requires prior security experience, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and timely certification in BLS or HeartSaver First Aid.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Certification in BLS or HeartSaver First Aid within 60 days of hire.
• State and federal background checks as required for regulated areas.
• To be completed as established by department: Taser User certification, Handcuffing Tactics, OC Spray Certification, AVADE Levels I-III.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility to provide information and directional support to patients, visitors and staff.
• Respond to information/assistance requests in a caring, courteous manner.
• Provide wheelchair and transport assistance, escorts and room access as needed.
• Monitor parking areas; issue permits and warning violations as necessary.
• Protect people and property by preventing accidents, theft and vandalism per policies.
• Perform routine building rounds and door unlocks.
• Report incidents and suspicious situations according to policy.
• Assist during emergencies, drills, and security-related incidents with documentation.
