Job summary

UPMC East is seeking a full-time Security Officer to join our Safety and Security team. The role includes an evening/overnight shift (6:30 pm–6:30 am) with weekend and holiday responsibilities, patrolling hospital campuses to deter crime and protect patients and staff.

Responsibilities include monitoring alarms, inspecting parcels, providing customer service, documenting incidents, and coordinating with UPMC Police. A sign-on bonus and a career ladder accompany a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Maintains safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Provides customer service and de-escalation as part of daily duties.
• Requires monitoring of security, fire, and environmental alarms and documentation of incidents.

Responsibilities

• Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress/egress to secured areas.
• Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Inspect incoming/outgoing parcels to prevent theft.
• Respond to alarms, incidents, and unusual circumstances.
• Maintain required certifications and licensing as applicable.
• Assist with traffic control and vehicle-related supports.
• Transport deceased to morgue or release bodies as needed.
• Patrol hospitals, buildings, grounds and associated areas to deter crime.
