Job summary

UPMC is hiring a Full-Time Security Officer for the Night Shift at the York hospital. The role focuses on safety of staff, patients, and visitors with a strong emphasis on customer service and public safety experience.

Hours are 6:00pm-6:00am with weekend and holiday rotation; the manager will discuss schedule during interview. Compliance with Act 235 and CPR/BLS certifications is required; a 2-year commitment may be part of the sign-on bonus package.

Qualifications

• Customer service excellence and safety mindset are essential.
• Prior public safety experience is preferred and prioritized.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with staff, patients, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas
• Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment
• Inspect incoming and outgoing parcels to prevent theft
• Respond to and resolve problems, disputes and unusual circumstances
• Maintain required certifications and licensing
• Assist with traffic control and vehicle assists
• Transport deceased to morgue/release bodies from morgue
• Monitor alarms and respond to alarms
• Patrol hospital grounds to deter crime and contact law enforcement as needed
• Perform patient escorts and stand-by details
• Complete mandatory training and report incidents and hazards
