Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, is seeking a seasoned Security operations leader to assist the Director in daily department management. You will supervise supervisors, manage budgets, oversee investigations, and coordinate training across shifts and departments.

The role requires a strong background in hospital security, years of supervisory experience, and certification readiness with an emphasis on policy compliance and public safety excellence.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Five (5) or more years of managerial experience in hospital security, law enforcement or corporate security.
• Valid PERC from IDFPR after completing 20-hour security guard training.
• Valid FOID card for Illinois residents.
• Illinois FCC eligibility within 90 days of employment.
• IAHSS Basic and Supervisory certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director with oversight of daily operations of the Security Services Department.
• Supervise all line supervisors, conduct evaluations and discipline staff.
• Participate in the recruitment and interview process of departmental employees.
• Supervise the purchase, maintenance, and repair of department equipment.
• Serve as a hearing officer for employee/union grievances.
• Take direct control of department operations during times of emergency or supervisor absence.
• Assume the functions of the department Director during periods of absence.
• Maintain fiscal/budgetary responsibility for the department.
• Conduct and supervise investigations.
• Coordinate and supervise security training efforts and certifications.
• Coordinate interdepartmental matters with shift supervisors or responsible parties.
• Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and compliance.
• Represents RUSH in matters of security at external/internal committees and organizations.
