Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Security Assistant Supervisor to provide security services across its hospitals and outpatient clinics by courteously assisting staff, visitors and patients while enforcing rules and regulations.

The role acts as back up for the shift supervisor, promotes a safe healthcare environment, and participates in post assignments, de-escalation of agitated individuals, and prevention of potentially risky situations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of security, public safety or law enforcement experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Training or certification in conflict resolution, de-escalation and/or violence prevention.
• Associate degree preferred in Criminal Justice or related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs post assignments.
• De-escalates agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team.
• Prevents potentially risky and/or violent situations.
• Serves as back up in the absence of the shift supervisor.
• Oversees the operations of assigned shift.
