Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's Degree preferred (MPH/MBA/MPA/Nursing/JD).
• Risk Management credentials (ARM or healthcare risk mgmt cert) preferred; or obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Minimum two years of experience in risk management or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience managing professional liability events.
• Minimum two years of clinical work experience in healthcare or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience resolving disputes with the public.
• Minimum two years of experience developing and using databases to report information.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain event review documentation and aggregate data on events involving patient harm or risk to patient safety.
• Implement strategies to mitigate events or prevent patient harm.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to clinical adverse events (TJC, DOH, CMS, FDA).
• Collaborate with Quality Program to identify quality improvement opportunities and report potential professional liability exposures.
• Design and implement educational programs on risk reduction and patient safety.
• Coordinate remedial measures after adverse events leading to lawsuits or claims.
• Provide Just-in-Time consultation to leaders and staff on liability risks and regulatory concerns.
• Coordinate claims investigation and legal defense processes with risk management leadership.
