Job summary

Cypress Healthcare Partners is seeking a Referral Coordinator to join our Salinas clinic. The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to manage a demanding workload with accuracy.

The position handles referral processing, insurance authorization coordination, and patient scheduling while maintaining patient records in the EHR. Bilingual abilities may be required on certain shifts, and there is no supervisory responsibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3–6 months related healthcare experience or training.
• Experience with medical terminology and understanding of the medical insurance process.

Responsibilities

• Process all incoming/outgoing referrals as assigned.
• Track referrals and document status; reconcile overdue/pending orders.
• Escalate routine referral delays after 14 business days.
• Assemble information on patient clinical background and referral needs.
• Understand ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Coordinate with insurance for prior authorization needs and provide necessary information.
• Serve as system navigator for patients with outstanding referrals.
• Contact external offices to confirm receipt and obtain appointment dates.
• Update patient charts with demographics and insurance information; scan documents into the EHR.
• Assist with front office duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
