Job summary

Jobtailor in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Waste Management Compliance Specialist to guide safe handling and compliant processing of contracted waste streams within healthcare settings.

You will lead cost monitoring, implement compliance-based services, and deliver training while building strong relationships with hospital staff. Local travel is required, with day trips and occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, or the equivalent in project/customer management experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of medical waste issues and the healthcare industry.
  • Consultative skills to effectively deal with customers.
  • Confidence with public speaking duties.
  • Willingness to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for business travel or federal property access.
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in a healthcare discipline preferred, or equivalent related work experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA-RCRA, U.S. DOT, and/or The Joint Commission Standards preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance for compliant, safe, and efficient handling and processing of contracted waste streams
  • Monitor operational efficiencies, cost goals, cost tracking tools, and invoice accuracy
  • Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities while fulfilling contractual obligations
  • Serve as the primary liaison for managing contracted waste streams
  • Provide consultative resources to hospital staff on safe and compliant waste-stream management
  • Provide expert knowledge on EPA, DOT, DEA, and state or local regulations
  • Conduct customer surveys to identify compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities using the Virtual Compliance Partner application
  • Project-manage implementation of compliance-based services, including schedules, coordination, and communication
  • Develop and deliver customized training for contract implementation and maintenance
  • Schedule and complete customer-facing activities focused on service satisfaction, relationship building, operational efficiency, and profitability
  • Travel locally, mostly on day trips with occasional overnight stays
  • Perform other assigned duties

Job description

Requirements
  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, or the equivalent in project/customer management experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of medical waste issues and the healthcare industry

  • Functional experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Teams
  • On-site presence at WMHS customer locations
  • Compliance with all mandatory immunization requirements imposed by customer locations
  • Willingness to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for business travel or federal property access
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in a healthcare discipline preferred, or equivalent related work experience
  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA-RCRA, U.S. DOT, and/or The Joint Commission Standards preferred
