Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a leader to manage the central laundry and linen services in alignment with the Director, Environmental and Textile Services. You will plan, organize, and ensure optimal laundry operations across Brown University Health affiliates, while modeling the organization’s values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

You will drive staff performance, coordinate resources, and collaborate with Nursing, Support Services and Admissions to meet textile needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Institutional Management, business, or health care administration.
• Supervisory and managerial skills to direct central laundry operations.
• Experience aligning laundry/linen services with strategic plans and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Manage utilization of resources (people, financial, materiel) for laundry and linen services.
• Model corporate values and maintain positive customer service relationships.
• Communicate with staff, management and customers to ensure smooth information flow.
• Provide staff with feedback to maximize human resource potential.
• Assist with capital equipment, labor and expense budgets and submit to Director.
• Set work standards for production and distribution of textiles and linens.
• Draft procedures for new equipment and update existing ones.
• Oversee collection, cleaning, inspection, finishing and distribution of linens.
• Assign production schedules to meet textile and uniform needs.
• Evaluate subordinates and handle employee relations matters.
• Assist with recruitment and selection of supervisory personnel.
• Develop training and development plans for central laundry staff.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports (linen usage, workload, man-hour utilization).
• Coordinate vacation scheduling and time sheets.
