Job summary

Thomas Edison State University is seeking a detail-oriented Healthcare Laboratory Assistant in Trenton, NJ to support daily operations of the School’s experiential learning spaces. The role involves running simulations and a growing VR lab, organizing labs, preparing materials, and ensuring safe, well-stocked spaces for students and mentors.

You will maintain equipment records, assist with scheduling, and perform administrative tasks to support the experiential-learning program.

Qualifications

• Comfort learning new technology including simulation and VR equipment.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and LMS.

Responsibilities

• Set up and organize laboratory equipment for scheduled skills, simulation, and VR lab sessions.
• Clean, sanitize, and reset laboratory equipment and workspaces per infection-control standards.
• Ensure all lab and simulation equipment are in working order; report malfunctions.
• Maintain inventory and assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking.
• Assist with setup, operation, and breakdown of simulations; prepare mannequins and trainers.
• Prepare simulated medications, charts, and supplies for realistic scenarios.
• Assist mentors during skills lab sessions by providing materials and equipment.
• As VR lab grows, assist with VR headsets setup, sanitizing, and storage.
• Maintain records of laboratory usage and enter data into databases.
