Job summary

Join Corewell Health as a Cook and contribute to the preparation and execution of hot and cold meals across our restaurants, room service, and grab & go markets. You will perform line cooking, prep cooking, vegetable prep, short order cooking, catering, and mise en place to showcase your culinary skills while positively impacting those we serve daily.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred baking and decorating coursework.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of baking or culinary related training is preferred.
• Industry certifications in food handling and protection are desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs hot food preparation including frying, baking, broiling, braising and grilling.
• Prepares soups, cereals, eggs, entrees, vegetables, and other food items as necessary.
• Monitors food quantity as customer counts vary and follows recipes.
• Assemblies and prepares ingredients by cleaning and cutting.
• Maintains food temperatures and records temperatures on logs.
• Stores and labels food items; uses leftovers within time limits.
• Sets up steam tables for patient and cafeteria lines.
• Communicates with staff to ensure coordinated service.
