Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an in-person Language Services interpreter for Myers Park and NorthPark Clinics in Charlotte, NC. You will provide in-person, telephone, and video interpreting across clinical settings, ensuring accurate communication and cultural mediation.

Responsibilities include using interpreting software, collaborating with clinical teams, and translating basic materials as needed. A 40-hour interpreter training completion within 1 year of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1 year of related interpreting experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• National medical interpreter certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proactively responds to requests for language access in a healthcare setting, including in-person, telephone, and video interpreting, and basic translation.
• Uses technology to deliver services across modalities and troubleshoots basic application issues.
• Maintains relationships with internal customers and makes decisions on interpreter modality while managing costs and vendor relationships.
• Interprets information about patients’ healthcare needs across a range of scenarios.
• Acts as a cultural broker to educate caregivers on patient culture in relation to healthcare.
• Adheres to professional conduct standards and follows national practice standards.
• Translates basic written information as needed and within guidelines.
• Serves as a cultural mediator and educates customers appropriately.
