Job summary

American Health Plans is seeking aReferral Intake Specialist to manage referral information, verify benefits, obtain authorizations and ensure timely processing. This role supports facility staff and requires strong ethics, communication, and organizational skills.

Applicants should have at least 3 years in healthcare settings and a high school diploma. Overtime/weekend shifts may be required, with options for flexible hours and comprehensive benefits included.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years experience in a healthcare related environment preferred.
• High School Diploma required.
• Position may require unscheduled overtime, weekend work
• Flexible hours as needed

Responsibilities

• Receives, screens and processes all referral information
• Verify benefits, payment method and amount; obtain prior authorization to ensure services are reimbursable
• Assign appropriate payer category to be keyed by facility personnel
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of all referrals/admissions
• Back-up for review of potential insurance contracts
• Adheres to ethical business practices with integrity and honesty
• Encourages a positive environment and teamwork
• Promotes a safe and efficient working environment
