Job summary

American Health Plans, a division of American Health Partners Inc., is seeking an intake/referral specialist to receive, screen and process referral information. You will verify benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and ensure services are reimbursable prior to admission.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail and the ability to work flexible hours, with possible overtime and weekend shifts. A High School Diploma is required and prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years experience is a healthcare related environment preferred.
• High School Diploma required.
• Position may require unscheduled overtime, weekend work

Responsibilities

• Receives, screens and processes all referral information
• Performs verification of benefits and prior authorizations to ensure services are reimbursable
• Ensures timely and accurate processing of referrals/admissions
• Back-up for review of potential insurance contracts
• Adheres to ethical business practices and maintains professionalism
• Takes initiative and supports company goals
• Encourages a positive environment and teamwork
• Promotes a safe and efficient working environment
• Adheres to dress codes as observed by supervisor
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
