Job summary

Duke University in Durham, NC is seeking a licensed plumbing technician to install, maintain, and repair essential building systems across campus facilities. You will install, test, and service water, sewage, drainage, gas and air systems in accordance with state codes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years of experience in installation and repair of plumbing systems and fixtures.
• Healthcare setting experience preferred.
• Valid NC driver's license and driving history acceptable under Safe Driving Policy.

Responsibilities

• Install, connect and test plumbing fixtures such as urinals, water closets, wash basins, sinks and drinking fountains, compressed air fixtures, and gas fired equipment.
• Monitor and troubleshoot plumbing breakdowns by diagnosing trouble and repairing, replacing or taking other corrective action as necessary.
• Determine routing of pipe and location of plumbing fixtures, accessories and equipment; lines and points on walls, floors, ceilings and openings by following trade practice specifications, blueprints, sketches and codes.
• Indicate lines and points on walls, floors, ceiling and open areas or set stakes to locate pipe routes, inlets, outlets, connections, fixtures and equipment; prepare working sketch as required.
• Follow a predetermined PM schedule if assigned to maintenance areas.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
